Hello, welcome to the blog.

This blog is named agnotocracy. The more astute of you might have noticed that’s not a real word. Not yet.

I invented that word because a few people were calling the new administration a kakistocracy, meaning, a government by the worst people.

That is, in a way, true.

But that’s not the real problem. The real problem is that they don’t know a lot of things, in a lot of different ways. A lot of this is carefully crafted ignorance. (On top of just normal ignorance.) By which I mean, it’s a government operated by people who choose not to know things.

Thus agnoto-, meaning ‘lack of knowledge’, and -cracy, meaning ‘government by’.

The study of socially crafted ignorance, BTW, is a real word: Agnotology

I created this blog because I believe something specific about President Trump. To get things out of the way, I am a progressive, and I think a lot of things the Republicans are going to do are bad policy. And things Trump has stated he wanted to do are bad policy (and often unconstitutional).

But that is, according to my plan, not what this blog is going to be about, in general. I might occasionally talk about normal political things, but generally just in a ‘presenting the facts’ way. ‘Here is what people are doing, and this will be the results’.

But the reason I’m starting this blog is that political differences are not the reason to oppose Trump. Trump actually has half a dozen serious reasons he should not be president even if you agree with him politically.
